The following letter is from an Echo Pointe resident:

Hello,

I wish I was contacting all of you under better circumstances. I just want to give all of you heads up about crime in our area.

We took our daughter to the airport this morning at 4:30 am. When we returned at 7:00 am we saw that our garage door was opened, the truck in our drive way was moved and that one of our cars was missing. We don't know how they got the car out of the garage b/c there were no keys in it. The alarm to our house was on which would have been triggered if they had tried to get into the house.

Luckily, nobody was hurt and the house was not broken into was well --- which is a blessing.

So, be extra careful if you have a vehicle parked in your driveway. Also, if you happen to see an '04 red BMW convertible w/ a black top and interior let us know any details that might help the investigation. (I know that it is a long shot!) We have an "In God we Trust" license plate QQ 4394 - exp June 15, 09. (Which I am sure has been removed by now.)

Stay safe and have a great summer.

An update:

We received many e-mails yesterday. Thank you for all your support and concern.

We received a telephone call about 1/2 hour ago that the police found our car abandoned around 21st and Mitthoffer around 4:00 pm yesterday. We don't know the condition of the car but appears that they just took a joy ride. They also rummaged through several cars on our block. Hopefully, the police will find some evidence in the car to help everyone out.
